If I Were a Cat
A little love goes a long way.
Especially when applied to yourself.
Shifting from the autopilot setting that runs most of our days to
Saying out loud—today, I'm gonna love me.
Being kind comes naturally — to everyone except ourselves.
Expectations held firmly in place, we soften for others but offer no such slack to ourselves.
Really, a little crazy when we look at it.
Today, feeling a bit off, I kept pushing my way through. Until I didn't. I had told myself I'm gonna love me today. And love looked very much like doing little to nothing. (Not always an option, but often it is, and one not exercised.)
So here I am, pen in hand, writing it down and taking time to love myself.
Funny how that seems like a selfish thing to do—logically, I know it isn't—but part of me feels like it is—selfish.
It's like I need nourishment.
Rest, good food, music, beautiful imagery.
Nothing expected, nothing required.
I may be throwing off a bug or something, whatever, it causes a pause to look at the cost/benefits of loving myself.
What is the quote about what makes a fine day?
‘One ought, every day at least, to hear a little song, read a good poem, see a fine picture, and, if possible, speak a few reasonable words.’
— Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
And those are all things that speak love to oneself.
Maybe those 'reasonable words' are
I love me ;-)

Perhaps the point isn’t to push our way through the day,
but to let the day take care of us.
A little love goes a long way, especially when we give it to ourselves.
Hugs,
Dreama
May the coming days take gentle care of you.
