Almighty Beauty
Looking through my past writings, I came across the following thoughts that once again caught my heart and I wanted to share. It’s a mash-up of the original idea married to additional thoughts and a heart-stopping quote.
The inside ‘joke’ on this writing? It all started with me misunderstanding a line in a song by John Mayer. Whatever he was saying was not what I heard. I didn’t realize it until later—but it didn’t matter. I loved the resulting writing.
Almighty beauty was what I heard and it inspired the following:
Beauty by itself is noteworthy.
Add an almighty to it, though, and suddenly it’s taken center stage.
Two words, placed side by side, level up my emotions, thoughts, and wonderment.
Almighty BeautyColors by themselves are noteworthy.
Put periwinkle blue next to bold pink, though, and you’ll grab my heart in a way that defies explaining.
Two colors, placed side by side, level up my emotions, my thoughts, my wonderment of life.
Almighty BeautyThere IS an almighty beauty in creation.
There IS an almighty beauty in letting go.Creating IS letting go.
Choosing the unknown instead of the known. The act.
The wonderment.
The letting go.If you’ve left yourself for far too long, not allowing for the almighty beauty to carry you away, this is a reminder of what you’re missing.
The almighty beauty of letting go. The almighty beauty of creating. The almighty beauty of YOU.
And then the following quote from Jen Pastiloff’s book, Proof of Life, just knocked me over…
Give back your heart to itself, to the stranger who has loved you all your life.
~ Derek Walcott
It’s so easy to give ourselves away, a piece at a time, hoping to gain approval and acceptance…totally blind to the fact that that which lies within us has always loved us, always accepted us….and we have spent a lifetime measuring up to everyone only to find ourselves nearly strangers to the one who has loved us all of our lives.
Our hearts.
Almighty and beautiful.
Hugs!
