The most powerful thing you’ll do today... 💫
Being on the receiving end of life can look a lot like this...
To sit in the grass, eyes closed, noting all the things I can hear.
To choose to not be doing
but receiving.
Not planning
but listening.
To receive—
is truly quite extraordinary..
Pine boughs swaying in the breeze—nettles long and soft—making playful shadows on the ground.
I have the choice to receive gifts of such magnitude.
It’s mine.
Nothing I must do.
The gift is here.
My part?
Good lord, so easy it’s ridiculous!
Just take it in
with eyes, heart, scent, touch and taste.
(yes, even the gentlest of breezes carries on it the flavor of sweet life.)
We have choice in so many things. In what we receive, in what we spurn. In what we allow, in what we overlook.
We GET to choose.
It’s easy to forget how HUGE this is.
Everyday offerings
of love and life.
Birds that call to us before it’s yet day
Grasses that awaken our feet to the joy of walking
Breezes that caress our cheek
like the touch of a lover
Sweet air washed by the rain waiting for our first inhale.
And all that is required of us to unwrap these gifts?
The act of receiving.
The dictionary defines receiving as this:
to come into the possession of (AQUIRE),
to act as a receptacle or container for,
to assimilate through the mind or senses,
to permit to enter (ADMIT),
to accept as true (BELIEVE)
We are always on the receiving end and the gifts are innumerable.
What shall we admit to our senses this day?
‘He is a good man who can receive a gift well.’
~ Emerson
